Born and raised in Toronto, Holt has been playing the electric bass since he was seven. He strives for versatility and plays throughout Canada in the Country, Jazz, R&B, Funk, and Rock genres (among others). Holt is a graduate of the Humber College music program.
Holt has had the honour of performing with many prolific artists, including Grammy Award winner Joe Lovano, Grammy award nominee Mike Stern, Juno Award winner Kirk MacDonald, and Juno award nominee Barry Romberg. In April 2015, Holt recorded an album with the Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble, featuring Grammy Award nominee Donny McCaslin.
